Earth Day @ Art 634
Help us celebrate Mother Earth with live music, food, art, vendors, make-and-takes, and more!
The Carriage Factory will be filled with earth-loving folks offering their goods and services. We look forward to Gracie Toth opening the day by sharing songs from their Skeletons in the Garden series, followed by the fun and inspirational sounds of Northern Michigan's J. Hobbs (formerly Brotha James), accompanied by Billy King. Yurty Yoga will be here offering free kids yoga, and several earthcentric make and takes will be available too. We are also excited to welcome back Craveables, the most delicious vegan food truck!
While this is a free event, please bring donations to help fill a community resource box that will be built this spring on the stump of a Honey Locust that needed to be removed from the foundation of the neighboring Zoerman-Clarke building. Suggested items include but are not limited to: non-perishable food, feminine products, hygiene items, lightly-used or new art supplies.
Barter Market at the Carriage Factory
Curious to explore what a marketplace looks like outside the confinements of monetary exchange? Join us on Sunday, March 24th at the Carriage Factory for a Barter Market! Bartering is whatever you make it, but our goal is to provide an opportunity to trade goods & services within our Jackson (& beyond?) community. We are aiming to make this event inclusive, accessible, & co-creative! Let us know how to make that happen for you!

Don’t have anything *special* to offer other than money? No worries! Cash is KING & vendors will also be open to monetary sales. Let’s help them avoid processing fees & come ready to barter with CASH.

CURIOUS TO BECOME A VENDOR
OR SHARE YOUR SKILLS/OFFERINGS?
READ ON!
Whether it’s your art or craft, crops, food, goods, a dope collection of rocks or glass or records, your business, trade, or skill shares - we want you to join us at the Carriage Factory on Sunday March 24th.
The only requirement is that you are open to trading all or some of what you are offering. Monetary sales will (of course) also be acceptable & we are encouraging people to bring CASH to avoid any processing fees.
FYI: Bartering is NOT haggling! Don’t try to knock someone’s price down, the seller determines the worth of what they are exchanging.
All registration fees go toward paying the musician(s) & heating/renting the carriage factory at Art 634. Vendors must provide their own set-up.
Booth fee: $15-25 sliding scale for a 10x10(ish) space with table + chair
Blanket fee: $5-$10 sliding scale for a floor space with a blanket + chair
Walking fee: $5 to share what’s in your backpack
VENDORS MUST PROVIDE THEIR OWN TABLES, CHAIRS, BLANKETS.
We are unfortunately not offering space for any more musicians for this first market.
Register to be a vendor or offer a skillshare at this link:

Inspired by Yellow Moon Yurt’s Barter Markets of Summer of 2023;
Let’s see what Jackson’s local community has to offer!
Valentine’s Delay Art Market
Step into the Valentine's Delay Makers Market—an ethereal post-Valentine's sanctuary for the romantically indifferent. Let the somber notes of remorse guide you through a labyrinth of artisanal wonders, all while sipping on craft beer from Ironbark Brewing Co.
Nestled in an intimate venue, local artisans display their creations—a visual symphony of indifference and aloof charm. Amidst muted hues and heart-shaped trinkets, savor the bittersweet notes of Ironbark's beers, each sip a reminder of freedom found in the absence of obligatory romantic gestures.
Live music, draped in nonchalance, sets the scene for dances tinged with carefree abandon. If you find Valentine's Day overrated, fear not. The Valentine's Delay Makers Market beckons for your embrace, offering solace in a sanctuary where forgotten love stories are redefined and hearts are unburdened.
So, mark this date upon your calendar, for the Valentine's Delay Makers Market is set to be a celebration of resilience, creativity, and the rediscovery of love's potential. Join us in this gathering where heartfelt connections will be forged and tales of redemption will unfold.

There will be some down time for each class, so a potluck is encouraged! Bring your favorite dish to share, and enjoy the cash bar that Ella Sharp Museum will have provided. Please wear clothing that you wouldn’t mind a potential splash of dye on.

Tie-dye is a way of creating patterns of color by folding, tying, stitching, crumpling or otherwise preparing the fabric to inhibit the flow of the dye into the folds of the fabric. The pattern of the folds and where the colors are squirted determines the final design. These ‘tying’ techniques come from the ancient Japanese practice called shibori. Shibori is what inspired the tie dye movement in the 60’s!
Bring your own garments! Up to two items (t-shirt size) allowed per student, or one large/bulky item. Please check the tag of your garment to make sure the fiber content is 80% or more of any cellulose/plant fiber (Cotton, rayon, hemp, bamboo, linen, ramie, modal, viscose, lyocell). Synthetic fibers like polyester, acrylic, microfiber, nylon, elastane or spandex WILL NOT hold the dyes we are using. Please pre-wash your garments!
Dyes being used are commercial grade synthetic dyes called Procion MX fiber reactive dyes. The chemical bonds of these dyes are permanent, non-toxic, and safe against even sensitive skin.
There will be some down time for each class, so a potluck is encouraged! Bring your favorite dish to share and enjoy the cash bar that Ella Sharp Museum will have provided. Please wear clothing that you wouldn’t mind a potential splash of dye on.
